The DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development (DC Film Office) launched its first podcast series, “Reel Talk with Film DC,” last week on August 27, 2012.
Now we can listen to interviews of professionals and experts in the film and television industries as they discuss about their unique experiences filming in the District.
This podcast is a project of the DC Film Office interns (from the Summer Youth Employment Program).
Intern Basheerah Abdusshahidhosts the first podcast in the series which features Leslie Green, senior communications manager with the DC Film Office.
In this podcast, Ms. Green discusses the mission and activities of the DC Film Office. She also answers many of the questions the film office regularly encounters, such as the reasons why DC is unique and crucial as a film location. She also gives us a sneak peek into upcoming productions filming in the city (Marvel’s Captain America 2, USA Network’s Covert Affairs, Showtime’sHomeland, and ABC’s Scandal, to name a few). Ms. Green also shares in the podcast a few of her personal favorite DC neighborhoods. Some of them may surprise you since they are not the usual touristy places.
Future episodes of the podcast will feature talented location managers who are well respected and highly-sought-after by the film industry. Some of them have worked on major productions filmed in the District such as Forrest Gump, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and National Treasure.
